rainbow scarf update by heavyteeth rainbow scarf update by heavyteeth
this is a more up to date version of this scarf - the white yarn i use now is the same brand as the colored yarn, which makes it look about 100 times better than the scarf that got the DD. That one was my first rainbow scarf but it was done so long ago and I make them SOOO much better now - I'm really embarrassed of the photos of the other one because the white really looked terrible to me :c

edit - (oct 2012)
I'll be putting the pattern on my blog soon for those interested!

not sure if you remember me, but a long time ago I asked if you could make a bed spread like this. I recently learned how to crochet and have taken on the challenge of learning your pattern! DYK: your rainbow scarf that got the dd was what drove me to try crochet?! I only have a few random skeinright now, but I'm going to buy some new ones soon, and I think this will make the perfect project!

Glad to know you have improved your skills! I still think your first one is just as beautiful, and I may still buy something from you soon! BTW: what is the link to your blog? I would love to visit!

Her pattern is one row of single crochet for the white and one row of double crochet for the colors. It's in the comments above :)

I don't know if you ever figured this out on your own, but I figured I would let you know. It's a fairly simple pattern but her skill at making nice stitches is what makes it so awesome.

As in, did you start with white and build up the colour or do a white outline at the end?

I want to make my own. ;_; I really love bright colors! If I weren't lazy, I could probably figure out how to make one like this myself instead of hoping I could find a pattern XD but it's been a while since I crocheted and I don't really feel like thinking about it. :P

haha well, it's really extremely easy ~ all the colored parts are just really longgggggggggggggg sections of double crochet, the white parts are all single crochet

I love your scarf! I am just learning. If you don't mind me asking, what size yarn did you use for this! And also what size hook?

These scarves are beautiful!! I just started crocheting and it amazes me that you get such even, precise stitches. Are you using double stitching or single? Also, would it be alright if I tried something similar sometime in the future if I ever get the hang of it? If not I'll totally buy one from you when I have the money, I just imagine they get to be a pain to make haha.

of course, do whatever you'd like, i appreciate that you like it so much :) the white lines are single crochet and the colored lines are 2 rows of half-double crochet, i hope that helps! and good luck :D

But the other one is sooo beautiful. The lighting in the two photos drastically change the feel of the scarf though, but on a whole, I agree with you when you say you like this one better. It feels lighter. Is it something you could wear in warmer weather as well?

I honestly have this scarf, or any of your stuff really, on my list of DEFINITELY going to buy. I just don't know when, as I am but a poor young one. *cries*

*endlessly*

Amazing what some macro photos can do lol ... I didn't do any color correcting on this image so it's not completely accurate either :c but it is TONS better than the old ones, craftsmanship wise. And it's not HEAVY per se, but I definitely wouldn't wear it when it's warm. If you have time and patience I recommend learning to crochet, this is really an EASY project, it just takes a long time to make :)
